I'm thinking it's because it was very gay and had a super-kawaii perky short guy with pink hair (at least in the anime) and a tall sexy brooding guy with blonde hair. It's like the most generic stereotypical "shounen-ai" ship imaginable.

At least the anime had a couple good songs associated with it. Still love Shining Collection. (Why the frick did Nittle Grasper have more guitar in their songs than Bad Luck, which actually had a guitarist?)
