I didn’t love Sterek but I enjoyed it a lot, but the increasing fandom batshittery drove me off over time because the fandom could not be chill about it. Sure there was some marketing bullshit that did not help but so much of the fandom deluded itself into thinking it was going happen without that.

I actually really liked Shiro/Keith is s1-2 but as the show went on I ended up hating both the ship and Keith. I hated how Shiro was side-lined into being Keith’s damsel to make it look like he ever did anything and I hated how Keith got everything handed to him without doing any work to earn it. I also hold a lot of resentment towards the fans who screamed at my gay ass for being ‘homophobic’ because I didn’t think it would actually happen in the show because it wasn’t written that way in the narrative.

Funny enough, Shiro stans like you made me hate Shiro lmao. But I don't like Voltron at all anymore so it doesn't matter.

Same. Shiro and Lance stans were constantly spouting bs about Keith for “getting everything so easily” but really meaning “getting things/character development/some dedicated episodes/etc. that should have belonged to our superior boy(s) just by virtue of us liking them more, not because they actually deserved it”. And it was one of the most annoying parts of the Voltron fandom when I was in it. The level of entitlement they held, as well as the Klancers, was off the charts. I still do like Shiro a little, I just can’t stand his whiny stans. And I always hated Lance, so his stans being just as smarmy and entitled as him wasn’t a shock.

Allura was my fave, and needless to say, I feel like she’s the one who truly got the short end of the stick. And constant complaining from Shiro and Lance stans isn’t an actual argument against that. Because nothing short of their faves becoming the central character of the show and getting everything was good enough for them. That’s why they targeted Keith. It wasn’t because he got everything handed to him with no effort(he didn’t, and he put effort into everything he did), and it wasn’t because he wasn’t deserving of anything he got. It’s just because it was time not dedicated to Shiro or Lance.

They weren’t my faves, but I had a much better time where Pidge and Hunk fans/stans were concerned, because they were much nicer and more fun.
