I adored that movie through my entire childhood, watched it again in college I think, and only then realized what that scene represented - or it may have been when I read the play instead of just watching the movie. People who claim that anyone (besides Doc, love Doc!) are the "good guys" of the movie are clearly, CLEARLY missing the point.

There are no 'good' guys or 'bad' guys in West Side Story, and you're really missing the big picture if you group either gang into such a vague category.

But in all seriousness, why? Fiction =/= reality. As long as you're not going out and touching little boys as a reaction to the fic, I think you'll be okay.

I don't really think that detail is supposed to be anything other than disturbing. I mean, really. I think it's supposed to be realistic and a reminder of what Gideon went through.

I actually thought it was pretty cool that the book didn't pretend that being hurt had magically made him an asexual being.

When I was little, I was really confused about which gang was supposed to be the "good guys" and would ask my dad every time we watched the movie. For some reason I could not take "neither" for an answer. Now I facepalm at myself for having done that when I was six, and it hurts my brain to know there are grown fans who miss the point even further.

103 - I thought it was true, the first time I saw it. I sort of read a book about all of it right after though. I do still wish that was.

109 - Because the pre-made characters are the ones people actually care about, and they're the reason they're reading the fic in the first place. Not to mention, the terrible reputation original characters tend to have. I don't tend to read original characters for anything because I'm interested in the characters that are already there, those are the ones I'm actually emotionally invested in.

116 - I dunno how it's weird to want to hit someone from back in the day, honestly. I'm 16 and god knows I've fangirled my fair share of people from the sixties/seventies.

149 - He's still obviously a good looking guy, but I'm glad they didn't sex him up Hollywood style.

154 - Curves can easily be elegant, you just need to dress right and have that air around you. Sorry to say, but Kristen's body is one you have to be born with, and if your body looks like either of those two, you have nothing to be complaining about, really.

I met him this year at Gallifrey One. He is STILL smokin'. Also, a huge flirt.
