Hi, I'm the anon who kept gushing about JJK and Gorou in particular so I'm not sure if you mean me, but I never actually heard the English dub because I personally don't much like dubs in general (I also try to watch movies in general with the original sound). I just love Getou's Japanese VA in just about everything he does and tend to like the characters he gets because while not exactly typecast, there tend to be some parallels with the characters he voices.
But I love that you came back to say this. Much appreciated! That's actually a major reason for me not to listen into the dubbed version haha!

Lol I'm always here for some Getou love (and recs, even if Toji is my main squeeze, sometimes I'm just in the mood for my #2/3)! Now I want to go back and watch the subbed version of the show! If the Japanese VA fits for him, and I like the VA, I'm probably going to have to check out his other work!

I'm impartial to sub vs dub. Sometimes if a show has both available, I'll listen to the first 15 mins or so of both to determine which"sound" fits the characters best (to me). There's also many shows I really love that they only have the subs, and it works out great! Other times I'm watching a show before bed and it's just easier to listen to the show in dub (some have really good dubs too!). Anyway, happy to gush over Getou anytime with you, anon!

If you haven't already, I highly recommend the Mononoke anime series. He voices the main character there and it's an amazing series in general. It's very pretty, and kind of a horror/fantasy/mystery anthology, with each story spanning 2 or three episodes.
The Peacemaker Kurogane anime is quite nice as well (it's the series I first encountered the VA).

I totally get watching the dub for ease of watching/listening.
With Getou, I just.. I have a real soft spot for the "well intentioned extremist" archetype, as tv-tropes calls it. Especially when it's kind of a tragic story. I'm not that far into the manga yet so I'm not yet sure what the obvious spoiler Getou 2 version is all about though, so not sure if I'll like that version as well but eehhhh, the VA is the same so....

Thank you! I'm definitely going check those recs out!

I want to go back and read the plasma vessel arc/the actual manga so I can get w better picture of him, because I know he starts as a very righteous (?), Or in the least well intentioned somewhat honorable lofty ideals of serving others and I like that in a character. So to understand where it went wrong/took a turn would be interesting. Please let me know what you end up thinking of G2 (either here or I can comment my DW account); G2 was my first impression, and then glimpses of a more level headed and similarly calm and thoughtful Plasma Vessel arc Getou was what made me enjoy him. The shock of OTT and some what crazed Getou in the film really threw me. So I want to see it in order/see the progression.
