I occasionally interact with the Russian side of the Doctor Who fandom on VK (they're the best when it comes to digitizing hard-to-find books/comics and old fanzines), and uh...

I already knew the Russian DW fandom was wild, like making jokes about how the best episodes don't get Russian release due to LGBT rep kind of wild, but the number of anti-war posts thinly disguised as Doctor Who memes is legitimately impressive.

VK Russian fandom is awful. It's full of racist homophobic shit heads, so no wonder they are being bad about the war too.
Also VK is like Russian reddit - you can find good people there and some groups are fun, but the majority is toxic.

Um, I think we might be misunderstanding each other. As I said, I'm mainly there for the rare pdfs, but the DW Russian fandom on VK generally tends to be very LGBT-positive and, as I said, they're using DW memes to be against the war.

I don't know about your fandom friends, because everyone deal differently. For me it's doing some normal things, like telling about a show or discussing wordle every night. I try to extend feeling of the community to people who I trust. (thankfully my fandom and not fandom friends are curated through the years enough not to have pro-p people). So you can I ask them if it's OK to discuss some headcanons, it's possible they need strength in normal things too.
