It's good to have hope, I guess.

Looks like it was just a rumour, people were talking about Russia cutting off all foreign internets on March 11, but it has been ten days now, and it's still working, so I don't think the situation will really change here.

Yeah. I should be relieved, really, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed that the threats turned out empty.

I mean... that would require for most of the fandom to have remained in Livejournal. Most of it moved to tubmlr or the twatter, so even the remainders of fandom that still existed on LJ, even if it were shut down, would instead move to those two cursed platforms.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for fandom roleplay to be properly reborn in dreamwidth, but fandom roleplay and fandom sites have always been hand in hand.

Yeah, basically. I mean, I'm glad a lot of frightened Russians have been able to finally cut ties and migrate their content to DW where they can speak freely about the bullshit they experience inside their own country - every time something goes wonky in Russia, we get a glut of imports here. But they're not fandom people. They're people who need freedom to speak out.

Are there even any fandom hubs that still refused to leave LJ?

A few months before this current mess, I had stumbled upon a livejournal community that was still functioning, that gloated over the fact the people that emigrated towards dreamwidth were panicky and had somehow changed into an even worse interface, while supposedly nothing had changed for them.

I'm still wondering what will happen the moment Livejournal actually stops functioning.

I've seen a good amount of Supernatural folks active over here in Latest Things, and I know a bunch of their communities moved over.

And even when fandom people have moved off Twitter / Tumblr, it hasn't been to go back to old-fashioned journal sites.

Same, in a way, OP. LJ is so, so empty anymore - not a lot going on in the fandom areas I am interested in. My flist of people and comms has maybe three, four new entries any given day?

But my DW flist is *so* much more active! More comms with actual traffic, people posting more - all that. I'm sorry LJ screwed up xposting, but it really would be nice if people realized how much easier and more...community-like doing fandom on DW is compared to Tumblr (wtf?) or Twitter (character limit holy gods).

Damn, gonna have to archive some stuff.

I don't know anyone who stayed at LJ for fandom for the last 10 years frankly.

In the very least, I'm sure it's put a few more coins in the DW coffers.

I have no idea if LJ gets shut down or not, because I left after Putin attacked Ukraine and I'm not going back, but YES to the hope for fandom renaissance!
