Re: TMI question?

I don't know why, but sometimes people are just bizarro weird in their responses.

NA - Personally I just don't understand the question. Is psychological constipation a thing? The comment makes it sound like it is, but if so, I had no idea.

The question is just “I have trouble going at work because I’m self-conscious about it, is anyone else self-conscious like me, or do they not care and just go at work?”.

It’s not really constipation that OP is describing, because they could go if they wanted to. It’s more that they can’t make themselves go because they’re self-conscious about doing it in a place where other people are. Holding it in because you’re self-conscious is actually pretty common, and can hurt because it’s not good for your body to do. It’s completely different from constipation, where you can’t go because you’re backed up. And constipation is not psychological as far as I know, because it’s dependent on being able to go when your body is ready to, unlike what OP is describing which is the need to go being present but dependent on whether your mind allows you to do something that makes you uncomfortable in a public place.

I honestly don’t know where you got constipation from? Because being bathroom shy isn’t constipation. Take it from someone who’s very shy about pooping in public restrooms, and almost never does if she can help it. I know I should heed my body when it tells me I need to go, but it’s not so simple for everyone to say “fuck it, I don’t care what anyone thinks” about this. And people who make comments about bad smells don’t help make people like me(and OP I assume) anymore eager to be the possible cause of those smells. So there is psychological elements to this, but they have nothing to do with constipation, and everything to do with being shy in the bathroom. And OP definitely wasn’t suggesting everyone else should also refrain from going at work with their question.

I know this is long, sorry :/

OP said, and I quote, "Can you poop at work? My body won't let me".

I'm not sure how you're getting anything but constipation from that phrasing.

Bathroom shyness is not something I experience. I'm sometimes a bit embarrassed about leaving a bathroom smelling bad, but that's life. I poop when I need to poop.

However, nothing about OP's phrasing makes it sound like a choice for them in any way.

OP: My body won't let me.
You: They could go if they wanted to, where are you getting constipation from???

One of us is confused here, and I'm not actually sure it's me.

Well, no, that's not true. I am also confused.

But their mind is part of their body though? And situational constipation really doesn’t seem to be what they’re alluding to. I’m following context clues as to what I think they’re asking. And while I could be wrong, that’s where most signs point.
