There was? I know there was 3 TV sequels to the 60s version, the second of which was basically “The Parent Trap in a new generation” with a cameo by Hayley Mills(specifically as Susan) as the new main character’s aunt. But I had no idea the 98 version wasn’t the only actual remake. Are you talking about the in the works reboot? Or a movie having more to do with Lottie and Lisa?

No, you're right. Original movie, bunch of made for TV sequels, '98 remake. Greg just went to imdb or wikipedia and assumed all the sequels were remakes, per usual.

no, I did not. there was a remake with the Olsen Twins.

It Takes Two wasn't a remake of The Parent Trap. The Olson Twin characters aren't even related to each other. You might as well call that a remake of Annie since it involves a spunky orphan being adopted by a rich guy.

I'm thinking of a different movie that had the Olsen Twins and the same plot as the Parent Trap but was called something else.

I’ve seen that one, but I don’t remember the name.

Are you sure you're not doing a Shazaam-Kazaam thing?

(Anonymous) 2022-04-03 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Who can say? The brain works in mysterious ways?

And I wouldn’t rely on my own memory either way, because it sucks.

"It Takes Two"

I guess it might have been It Takes Two in my case, but I thought it was a different one. Greg is probably talking about something else besides It Takes Two, though, like they said.

What's the movie called?

"It Takes Two"

I don't remember but it wasn't It Takes Two. It may be a Shazzam Kazzam thing like above nonny said but I remember my friend's kid who loved the Olsen twins watching this and me noticing the Parent trap plot.

Are you sure you're not just thinking about every direct to video Olson twins movie where they're trying to hook their single parent up with some acquaintance of theirs? They've got a whole catalog of what were basically Hallmark Christmas movies with the twins playing cupid.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-03 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think there was any such movie, at least none that show up on Wikipedia or IMDB

(Anonymous) 2022-04-03 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"It Takes Two"

(Anonymous) 2022-04-03 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Read the subthread nonny

The jumping-off point of this whole conversation is that (1) we're not sure whether "It Takes Two" counts as remake of Parent Trap, because the twins aren't related in "It Takes Two" (2) people are saying that there was another Olsen Twins movie, specifically separate from "It Takes Two", which had the Parent Trap plot

(Anonymous) 2022-04-03 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
depends on how you count the olsen twins version as well tbh

The movie that has more in common with The Prince and the Pauper than it does to The Parent Trap, where the girls aren't related to each other or to any of the female love interests, and is not called The Parent Trap?

I wouldn't consider that a remake of The Parent Trap, actually.
