I mean, I think they're maybe referring to fans speaking to creators? Not necessarily to other fan creators, but to the actual show runners or whoever?

I don't think it's entitlement when I see a show that finally has X minority and they're depicted by what are essentially stereotypes (there's nothing being done to subvert those stereotypes, acknowledge/satirize the fact they're playing into those stereotypes-- which vines with its own issues and isn't often done right). Like, am I asking for too much to see somebody like me/my friends/family/community who has more dimensions than [stereotypical qualities historically relied upon]?


Granted, I can't answer for tabaqui, but in my own experience it was this lack that led me to fandom in the first place! I don't think I'm being entitled when all I'm asking for is to not be made into a stereotype/played into particular tropes. And if it is entitlement, well what can I do? I do support creators who get greenlit to begin with, and hopefully that makes the people with money realize better stories will result in more profit, but I'm not holding my breath. Again, this is specifically referring to canon not fandom spaces, in which people gripe and whatever they want. So if you want to see that head canon,you can make it happen.

It's why I came to fandom, too; just sick of all the m/f stuff forever being shoved in my face, and all the f/f and m/m stuff ending in sadness and misery or never really happening (like LGBTQ people are all neuter or something), or being treated like a joke or a Very Special Episode. At least fandom, with all its flaws, celebrates and gives life to LGBTQ headspace, experiences, emotions, relationships, issues and quirks.
