Teenagers who behave themselves and don't act like the shits in the comment you're responding to would be welcome in fandom, if there were any. Teenagers were welcomed by adults when I was a teenager because we knew how to be decent human beings and respect the people who had built fandom for us. Nowadays teenagers like that are a rare beast, and I'm through giving any of the the benefit of the doubt until their generation can prove it's grown up.

This! Also, back in the day, if teenagers did act like little shits, they would be swiftly ejected from the community and banned. Now, there are no consequences for acting like a little shit, and any teenager who is inclined to be one can do so with relative impunity. The lack of moderated spaces contributes heavily to this.
