148. Actually, I have the opposite prejudice. I prefer fans who are older, because I assume they are more mature, more intelligent, and write better fic because they have more experience with life in general. Also, less net speak.

Unfortunately, the internet has taught me this: Being older doesn't alway equal more maturity. (Briefly recalls getting called a 'retarded asshole gamer teenager by a 32 year-old) Older fans can raise just as much of a shit-storm as the fans who are younger than them can.

So agreed. Older fans have a tendency to write better fic. They do tend to have experienced more. Being real age or older than a character ads to knowledge of what issues a character is going through. Also, historical knowledge rocks. I ask my mom for help writing fic sometimes because she lived through the 60s, and was at some of the protests. It is helpful to get her anecdotal knowledge of how people react to tear gas and police coming at them with batons when writing fic that deals with those issues, and various things like that.
