To be fair, it's treated as, "We don't entirely know HOW we pulled this off and now we're trying to find this guy and rescue him and also the protag we thought as a human is Actually A Cat."

I mean, that's fair. But in the case of AE, I think my issue is more Feinne reacting that way to a boss that isn't any stronger or weirder than anything else the party has come across (semi-spoiler: the screenshot is from a quest that was released after the Goddess of Time storyline concluded).

I wonder how much is the constant time travel just eventually fucking with memories. I could see this canon inevitably going that route. :|a

Good point! I guess it does a little when events are actually changed, though the memories about main stuff seems in tact (Eden, Ogre Wars).
