101. your tastes are your tastes, you shouldn't feel bad about them, just play what you enjoy! Vidya games aren't serious business. (also it amuses me too much that MGS counts as girl gaming. Though it /was/ intended to be both genders c:)

Well, it's not that playing MGS is seen as girly so much as that it doesn't get a female gamer any "hardcore"/"real gamer" cred since there's a significant number of girls who like it for the slash and the view of Snake's ass. And even if that's not why I like it, people will assume that it is, and... yeah.

this is, admittedly, a problem, though I think Kojima's said a few times that he was targeting the game as much at female gamers as he was at male gamers - Raiden was supposed to by androgynous so that male and female players could empathise with him, I think. And yeah, this backfired horribly a bit. I personally love it because it's fun and the plotline is so hilariously insane and /out-there/, but I can still be reduced to a pile of aaaw by the right fanart.

But uh yeah, the need for girl gamers to "prove themselves" is a stupid prejudice, and you shouldn't be guilt-tripped into not enjoying what you do. :V *doesn't know where she's going with this*

Yeah, to be honest I do ship some MGS slash pairings, but I'm mostly in it for the crazy bizarre plot and general lulz.

But why would you want to have "cred" with the "hard core/real gamer" crowd. They sound like assholes.
