Not the OP. But my problem is that I cannot see Sheldon being interested in sex or romance. He doesn't seem to care about any of these things. And it's a little frustrating to watch him being shoved into fannon relationships because that's what people (in general) are accustomed to -- the social convention that in order to be happy and fulfilled, we must find our mate. But Sheldon's directly and indirectly scoffed at that idea.

Not sure how anony replies work and all but in case you do get this... sorry for the delay in commenting, school kicked my butt this past week.

A lot of people on my flist agree that he's probably asexual. But that doesn't mean he can't be in a relationship. Now I have very very very limited exposure to people who identify themselves as such but i know there's at least one that is in a relationship. So it is possible. Sure it may be something like what Leonard's parents have, or it could be something different.

I think there's a lot of room for shippers to play in, lots of different ways to approach it. Maybe it's only been of the conventional type of putting them together (I personally haven't checked out the classics if any, just reading what gets posted currently) but I'm sure there'll be more and different ways of Sheldon getting to be in a relationship that's stronger than friendship (be it with Penny, Leonard or anyone else).

And anyways, in pretty much any fandom the people tend to skew towards relationship fics than gen fics. In my main fandom, Harry Potter, there's lots of people who could not see Snape in ANY kind of relationship, some even believed he was asexual for the longest (till DH came out), and there always had to be ways to explain his lust/love for someone for it to be as IC as possible. So it's nothing new, in every fandom, EVERYONE gets shipped with pretty much everyone/thing else. And yeah it's what people are used to, don't think that'll change.

But yeah, if I ever do get around to writing TBBT with S/P, the fun part will be figuring out how to get him to that point of it. That's what fics are for, right?
