Good things thread

[personal profile] philstar22 2022-04-11 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm super depressed and in a dark place. But when I got home today, my cat was waiting at the door for me, and was so excited to see me she jumped right into my arms. There is nothing quite like being loved by a kitty who thinks you coming home is the highlight of her day.

what good things are happening for you?

She's such a sweet girl. And also a wild girl. She is the one thing keeping me grounded right now. She's everything.

Pets are definitely the best. I had to pause in the hallway earlier and pet one of my bunnies' big fluffy butt and tail because he was just lying there splooted and would let me. ;)

Here's a non-pet-related good thing that just happened to me. I went to get the mail and see if my license/tag renewal documents had come yet (they had) and almost didn't bother opening the envelope from my car insurance because they're always sending me stuff about "get our life insurance too!" or invoices for stuff I auto-paid online. But this one, I dunno, it looked different so I opened it... and it was a $400 check. Apparently because the state ordered them to repay clients out of a huge budget surplus they retained from their catastrophic collision fund. (I googled to make sure this wasn't a scam.)

Considering I'm likely going to need more pricey car repairs or the purchase of a newer car within the next couple weeks, that's very welcome.

Dawwwww. Yes, the sploot must be petted. All fluffy fur calls for the pets. Congrats on getting the check, I'm glad you have it for the things you need it for.

Lol, sounds like you're from the same state I am. I should use it to check out my suspension since it's been dealing with potholes.

Potholes, eh? Yeah, that is another thing this state is known for. :D

Hee, awwwww, that's so cute! Our cats love to wait at the door for us, too :D. Agreed, there's just something about coming home to somebody who is genuinely happy and excited to see you that just makes things that much better.

I hope things start looking up for you, and I hope you have many well-deserved happy cuddle times with your kitty :).

Got to go see Sonic with a guy who may as well be my brother and my partner. Had the entire theater to ourselves because it was the middle of a school day. Staff was sweet and nice and were glad we were enjoying ourselves, and we just. Had a blast.

Your kitty wanted to remind you it's National Pet Day!

My two work Tom cats' reintroduction is going really well!

The cats used to be friends, spent some time apart, and when they were both back together they started fighting. We've had to kennel one but today we've started letting them out together and they were all lovey-dovey. They are spending the night separated but it looks like they are going to be able to go back to being besties!

Your kitty sounds like an absolute darling <3 We lost ours this week but I guess our good thing is that we're looking into adopting kittens. My partner has always raised kittens and is really missing the company so he doesn't want to wait, but I've only ever had full grown cats so I'm a bit nervous. I feel like they're so delicate and I'm trying to kittenproof everything in sight :> But I'm excited. They look like so much fun. I miss my old boy though.

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to find the perfect kittens and that they choose you as their humans and give you all the kitty love. I'm sure your boy knew how much you loved him.

Cancer warning

[personal profile] nanslice 2022-04-12 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
My mom had her first visit with the oncologist and it went much better than expected, she has a plan, and he was hopeful about getting her another five years! I don't know how likely that is but even half that is more than I was expecting.

That's awesome! (I've been reading what you've said about the situation but I mean... what do you even say? :/ Except, hearing this positive news, hooray!)

I sent my friend a care package and it arrived today. So got some endorphins from that.

I'm going to a party tomorrow and I made a cake for it today and it seems to have turned out great. :)

It was a really beautiful day today and I took a quick walk around the block after lunch to just bask in it for a while.

I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once last night and it is amazing. I had an amazing experience. I laughed, I cried, I held my husband's hand, I didn't finish my popcorn, it was wild. I cannot recommend seeing it enough and NOT looking up anything about it. Like, I don't even want to tell you why it was funny/moving because then you'll be expecting some scene or concept instead of experiencing what's happening. I don't even know, the only review I've heard that captures it is "I haven't been this excited about a movie since Fury Road." I already want to see it again.
