I only know Fate peripherally so all this time I thought Fate turned Enkidu into a woman like they've done with some other male figures. Good to know they're androgynous, but I still don't see a lot of Gil/Enkidu stuff anyway.

I agree with the other commenters tho, I've never met a FGO fan who actually read the stories or know real life history lmao.

To clarify, I don't see a lot of Gil/Enkidu stuff from Fate. They are definitely gay in the epic.
(also I know Grand Order isn't the only Fate, but I always call the entire franchise 'FGO' for better or worse, sorry.)

As I recall Enkidu's technically genderless in Fate.

Also I think people would be surprised how many Fate fans have read the source material for stuff their favorites are in. I know a lot of Gilkidu fans who've read the Epic because they love the ship (and beyond that, it's happened surprisingly often that the design for a new character's been revealed and the fans have figured out their identity based solely on design clues. Someone figured out *Mandricardo*, who's probably the most obscure character to show up in the series so far).

I looked up Mandricardo. I imagine he was recognized by the folks who researched the source material for Astolfo.

He’s still fairly minor, and the wiki page on him is actually only about a year old (the character debuted in FGO in 2019). So even then someone would have had to read the source material to recognize him just from design cues alone.

I see tons of GilEnkidu stuff as far as Fate is concerned. They’re one of the juggernaut pairings of FGO as far as fujoshi are concerned. And it’s practically canon!
