Well, if anyone would ever actually fucking write some, and if any of the stuff people occasionally manage to write was any good, people wouldn't have to go on about how they want to see more of it. Even in cis het pairings where the woman is clearly the top, people will still go out of their way to find a reason to write the opposite.

That's the weird thing. People in my corner of fandom cannot shut up about loving femdom yet hardly any of them actually end up writing/drawing it. I'm starting to think it's performative for some.

DA
It sure does seem that way because I hear far more about femdom than I ever actually see it.

There definitely is a market for it though as evident by the kudos count on AO3 for what few femdom fics are available, at least in my fandoms. For whatever reason not many writers seem interested in the topic but there is certainly a hungry audience for it.

A lot of people are really bad at writing what they love because when you love something you want to do it well and put more pressure on yourself only to fall short of your own expectations and get writer's block, news at eleven.

That does not change the fact that the constant pushing, whining and foot-stamping gets annoying, especially when you are dunking on other people's kinks in the process. Nor does it change the fact that if more people who like femdom with male subs wrote it, there would be more of it out there for them to read. Other fans do not owe you fanworks, nor are they under some kind of obligation to cater to you just because you complain, news at eleven.

If people who were into F/m fic actually wrote it instead of constantly complaining about how there is no good F/m fic, there would be more of it. Let alone the finger-wagging and moralizing that gets aimed at people who have other kinks and other dynamics that they like.

Also, the woman being "clearly the top" in a cis het pairing may not be as obvious to other fans as it is to you. Those fans aren't obligated to change what they write just to cater to you. I doubt those people are going out of their way to write things you don't like out of spite; they're just writing what they want to write.

There is good femdom stuff out there, it is just harder to find. I end up reading the same things over and over again.

T_T I'm feeling a little called out. So I'm a super small writer in a fandom with readers who are into femdom, and I've gotten requests for femdoms/malesubs and all the requests are super hot but I'm just terrified of writing it and it not being well received/written. It's exciting but scary! I want to write it well and I don't want to upset/disappoint any readers. But that's my little personal thing.

I will say, please, if you're in a fandom where a writer takes requests, always good to ask if they write femdoms! If they don't, they might know a writer who does! At least this has been my experience on Tumblr! I realize ymmv because some fandoms aren't very active on Tumblr as compared to AO3/Twitter or Wattpad (I'm so foreign to Wattpad so IDK).
