I'm not sure about wanting to see more of it, necessarily, but media dealing with parental abandonment where it's the mother who upped and left is something I don't see very often. I feel like it's usually the generic deadbeat, distant dad, and as someone whose mother vanished, cleaned out the bank accounts and left my dad to pick up the pieces and raise us, anything that pushes the idea of "a mother's love is unconditional/undying/mothers will always support their kids" makes me squirm a bit.
