My OH was entirely educated at Boarding School and has zero interest in spanking. Not a linear journey.

Pretty positive that neither ayrt, nor the anon who started the thread actually believe every Christian who’s gone through corporal punishment or anyone who’s gone to a British boarding school that also used spanking as punishment are all into spanking as a kink. These are tongue in cheek comments, not meant to be taken seriously.

But putting that aside, let’s pretend they were serious. Unless your OH went to a boarding school during the time CS Lewis and others from that time did, or at least went to a boarding school that used corporal punishment, your OH’s experience in boarding school isn’t the same. They were specifically talking about British boarding schools in 1908-1910. So of course things have changed since then. So that’s even more reason that your statement of “Not a linear journey” is both obvious, and kind of irrelevant to the secret and thread. It wouldn’t be a linear journey compared to C.S. Lewis’ because things are different since the time he was in British boarding school. And it’s not a linear journey in general because ayrt isn’t saying that everyone who’s gone to boarding school in the last couple of decades is into spanking. There might still have been boarding schools that used physical punishment in the mid to late 20th century, but they weren’t the majority. And you never specified whether that type of punishment was used in your OH’s school(s) anyways.

But again, you’re responding seriously to what was most likely comments meant to be taken in jest. The reason I think that is the first one said that Christianity is very big on corporal punishment(which it was, but hasn’t been across the board for quite a while, minus isolated pockets), and implying that that would make most Christians masochists with a spanking fetish(which is definitely true of some Christians, but would almost definitely not stem from them being a Christian, and more just be because they just like the kink). Because both are generalizations that read as a joke. And the next comment adding in the bit about British boarding schools from the early 20th century feels like someone who gets the joke adding to it.

He wasn't Christian at that point though. He stopped being in his preteen years or so and was kinda antagonistic to it then, and didn't start again till...I think his late 20s?
