Omigawd, his Evil Hair is a complete delight. (There's a character in Sand Sea that gets a similar makeover and he never fails to make my sides hurt.)

What always baffled me was how someone like Er Ye kept him on as a student that long - Chen Pi was always a bit dodge. I guess Ya Tou was very sweet and very convincing.

It's kinda funny, because they didn't really show much of the actual teacher/disciple relationship except for Chen Pi getting punished? Maybe Er Ye should've been a little more hands on in the early days, no pun intended.

Could be.

From what we see of his backstory, though, his dad was super-strict and cane-happy. I suspect Er Ye spent a lot of time kneeling in the courtyard himself, and just... doesn't know a kinder teaching style.
