lmao I actually went almost entirely through the post before I realized they were all shipping secrets. I was just like "god this is the most boring secret post ever."

144. This is like a huge fandom pairing. All you have to do is look at Ashwinder (http://ashwinder.sycophanthex.com/) to see that tons and tons of people ship/write/art/etc for it. I doubt anyone would consider you a pervert unless you ONLY ship minor/student!Hermione with teacher!Snape.

I know that there's a huge fandom, it just sucks that I can't talk to any of my IRL FRIENDS about it, cause like I said, they would all think I'm a sick pervert.

I guess that's understandable. IDK, I think they're a pretty easy pairing to see because, like you said, the characters would be attracted to each other physically and also intellectually, and it would actually be a ~union of houses~ like JKR hammers on about all the time but which never comes to anything in the end. I have a hard time seeing how it's perverted, though, it's not as if two straight characters being attracted to each other is anything unusual to the delicate senses of the wider world, unless they particularly dislike age differences or something. In my mind it is a more interesting pairing to have happen after Hermione's out of school, but if you're more inclined toward student/teacher I can see how that might ruffle some feathers.

Physically? Not really. Snape is supposed to be butt-ugly and greasy. Non-fandom people are less likely to forget/ignore this, due to lack of hardcore fangirl goggles.

Actually, I disagree greatly with this. I've been into Harry Potter fandom since the first book came out when I was about 12 years old, and I STILL ship HG/SS like there's no tomorrow...

Snape's physical description is almost exactly the same as Viktor Krum's, actually. Obviously it didn't stop her that time. Not everyone shares Harry's taste in men.

Lol, I guess I just think... Harry has a bias against Snape and so will be not at all forgiving of his physical flaws. Unlike Sirius, who we get told is ~omg handsome~ a hundred thousand times.

But, come on. "Viktor was a tall, thin, sallow young man with dark hair and eyes. He had a large, curved nose that he inherited from his father and thick, black eyebrows. Despite appearing graceful while flying on a broomstick, he was round-shouldered and duck-footed while on the ground."

Even down to the round-shouldered thing we saw in teenaged Snape. Severus even has him beat, in lacking duck-footed...ness. Hermione is not interested in her partner being the handsomest person ever, and if she has a 'type', Severus would prob be included. Tall, dark, and ~intense~.

which is one of the many reasons I also personally ship them. I almost always defend them when somebody is like, "OMG YOU LIKE HERM/SNAPE" with..."Well, she did go out with Viktor Krum...and he was basically a younger version of Snape"

Lol it's actually kind of uncanny, to me, that Hermione was paired with someone so like Snape in canon. It makes me wonder if JKR had a secret crush on whatever teacher it was that she based him on :P

And, disregarding the problems that would surely arise from his personality (even though Hermione maintains respect for him, in the books, till the bitter end), he's very talented, intelligent, and appreciative of academics. He's also more dedicated to his craft(s) than to popularity, one of her main sellers on Viktor. So... all things that I imagine would attract Hermione. I consider them v compatible as far as fandom ships go, even if I was never crazy enough to think it would be a canon development.

Oh, I KNEW it would never happen in canon, I saw Ron/Hermione from the first time they met each other. But yeah, I agree with everything you said. JKR can say that she doesn't understand why people would be attracted to Snape, but I think in her own little way, she totally is.

I mostly just ship them once she's of age and out of school...So yeah.
