I think it is the kids thing actually. It's not a distinction I'm proud of, hence it being a secret. But on the other hand, it's not like I feel I'm particularly missing out on anything by having a problem with it. I can't really think of any hetcest pairing that I've distinctly avoided shipping because it is such. Of course, it might just be my acknowledged inherent bias preventing me from seeing the potential of such couples. I suppose Heroes has a few pairings I might be more interested in if everyone wasn't related, but none have quite as much chemistry as the one I featured. Regardless, thank you for forcing me to examine my stance on the subject in greater detail than I ever have previously.

I kind of figured it was that way. I've sort of moved away from that way of thinking, but that's only because I ship a cousins pairing in which the characters are technically genetically half-siblings. I liked the ship so much that I guess I had to get away from that idea, even though I still shy away from pairings that are closer than cousins (genetics aside, though that might be my own little double standard :P)

I don't really have a problem with liking homosexual incest ships and not het ones since I generally don't care what people like, whether they like only slash, only het, or both. It doesn't make a difference to me. Everyone has their preferences and squicks. Everyone has things they like and dislike. It was just something I noticed, and the only time it's ever bothered me is when people bash a het incest pairing but don't care about the slash incest one. It just seems a little unfair to me. You don't have to like all types of incest, but to hate one and not the other when seems a little hypocritical.
