To be fair, Daria's family sometimes gives her shit for being who she is (and her own sister denies their relation for much of the series). They get better about it in latter seasons, but the final episode shows that Daria has reasons to feel weird about her family. IMO I'm not a fan the last season but a couple of good things to come out of it are Quinn's character development and her willingness to have her sister's back.

I get that Jane's family is one of "benign neglect" and the fact that she and Trent seem to only really have each other's backs is sad, but having a family that gives you shit doesn't mean you have no right to complain about it. Many families have their own set of issues, and in fact, that was a point made in the episode where Jane and Trent temporarily stayed with the Morgendorffers.
