111: People like Jenny because she's interesting, has flaws and is all kinds of awesome. People dislike River because she's boring, "perfect" and an effing Mary-Sue. You can like who you want, I just don't understand why ANYBODY would like River over Jenny.

127: I hate ANYBODY that would betray their friends. I don't give a fuck how scared you are. And no, MOST people ARE NOT like Peter, and if they are, I really fucking fear for humanity. I may dislike Sirius, A LOT...but I'm going to quote him because this is exactly how I feel: "I would DIE rather than betray my friends"

I will admit that I like the way Jo wrote his character, it speaks to her that I can feel so strongly about how much I hate him for what he did. Also, yeah, I don't like it when people make him out to be a complete ass during the Marauder era either.

See, you say that now. Most people do. I certainly like to think I would die for my friends. But when it comes down to it, how many of us actually been in the position of bargaining for our own life?

I'm not saying that you *wouldn't* die for your friends, or that I wouldn't. But honestly, how do you know for absolute certain when you've never ever had *that* kind of fear put on you?

That said, I don't think the OP was saying that he's an OMG-GOOD-JUST-SO-MISUNDERSTOOD person, just that he's not this mindlessly evil asshole that he's made out to be, especially as a child. He had motivations and reasons behind what he did, even if he made the wrong choice when it came down to it.

Oh, I don't think he's mindlessly evil...which is why I added my second respond...it's just, I've been stabbed in the back by several of my so called "friends" (obviously not to the extent of which Peter betrayed his friends) so I have a huge problem with people that do that. I could've done that to many of my friends, I've gotten angry with them, scared of consequences that would've happened if I didn't tell the truth about something, but I never did it.

IMO Jenny can be viewed as a bit of a Sue. The daughter spawned from nowhere, the Doctor didnt want her but grew to love her, and she has super skillz. They're explained, but super skillz nonetheless. It just boils down to what kind of Sue one can tolerate.

I happen to adore Jenny: she's spunky and badass and Georgia Moffett was cute as a button playing her. I also really wish Moffat had laid off the crazy Kool-aid before writing River, because she literally made that two-parter unwatchable for me. (Which sucks! I love the Vashta Nerada. It was an awesome monster.) It just helped me realize that I can deal with daughter!Sues, not love-interest!Sues, and that I kind of can't stand Moffat's writing. Yay, learning!

oh, Jenny is definitely a bit of a Sue, just not as big of a Sue as River is.
