#104 – IAWTS… There’s so much more to Narnia than a children’s story… It was written as a Christian allegory and when I watched the part of the movie involving Aslan’s sacrifice, I seriously had chills at the power of the symbolism in it.

#107 – seriously disturbing… seriously… like, wow… :(

#170 – I can see your point, but I’d have to stop watching… without House and Wilson’s friendship, I would lose interest in the show completely… It’d be artistically impressive, but it’d be taking my show away from me :P

No, the Narnia series WAS NOT written as an allegory. It was a "What if?" story that CS Lewis wrote and he said that himself. His train of though when he came up with Aslan was "Suppose Christ existed in other worlds and suppose in one, he was a Lion. What would happen then?" Paraphrased a bit since it's been a while since I've seen the actual quote, but that's the gist of it. *has read craptons of essays and written a research paper on Narnia*

what do you think an allegory is?

it's a story in which certain things parallel other things and symbolize them... in this story the lion *symbolizes Christ, and the characters and events *parallel* those in Christian canon...

therefore whether that particular interview used the *word* allegory or not... it *was* an allegory...

At the same time, Narnia didn't really start out as something Christian. LWW started out with images in his head and he said in some other quotes that the Christian elements came in on their own.

Ahhh, CS Lewis fan! <3 I've read essays too. >3

Exactly! It all started with an image of Mr. Tumnus, but everything came together when he came up with Aslan. :3

And heck yes I am! ^^- I've lost count of how many essays I've read on top of the entirety of "A Field Guide to Narnia." XD
