This. It's half of why I hate him.* I get so sick of seeing the SPN fandom talk about how horrible all the female actresses are, but as soon as a half-decent guy shows up, they love him. Even though his point in the show is stupid. And then they have the nerve to talk about the misogyny on the show?

If Castiel had been female, nobody would have liked her.

*The other half is because Misha Collins can't act.

... you do realize that hating him for being a good looking guy means you're acting the exact same way the lady hating fans are, right?

But I don't think he's a good looking guy, so your point is moot. I was just saying that fandom seems to love him because so many do find him attractive.

I don't like Castiel because he's a pointless character. I don't really care one way or the other about Misha Collins. I don't think he's doing a good acting job on Supernatural, but I think that's probably the role, and am willing to see him in something else.

Dude, if Castiel had been female the only thing that would be different would be the fans shipping Dean/Castiel.

That's kinda my point. I still think the only reason Castiel is so popular is because he gives the slashers somebody new to pair with Dean. I would freaking love some Dean/girl!Castiel fic, but nobody seems to write it, AFAIK.
