I think I saw an interview somewhere that said Isabela could grow crops, but only grows flowers to please her grandmother. Plus her song gives the impression that she wasn’t even aware that she could grow anything other than flowers.

Haven't seen that interview, but combined with what another anon said up thwre I'm going with

1. Ideals of the femininity
2. She wasn't aware that she could grow crops
3. Blending 1&2 to say there's a particular beauty that flowers have, and there's a particular beauty of say a field of wheat, corn field, rice, etc. And fruits and vegetables. She's not mean to be the "workhorse"/embody life giving femininity in that particular way.

Same here! She clearly has the ability but hasn't thought of it because flowers are the only thing that's expected from her.

I thought the entire point of her solo song and the line "He said my powers would grow like grapes that grow on the vine" from We Don't Talk About Bruno was that she didn't realize she could grow anything but flowers. As she grows and expresses herself she is able to grow cactuses and stuff and thus eventually can grow other plants.

As for why the movie didn't start with her growing crops, I agree with all of the above. It's easy to cast her as this beautiful and perfect and hateable older sister if she's growing beautiful and perfect and useless decorations but not if she's out in the fields growing corn.
