Idk, seems to me there's a fair chance he 'misspoke' because it would be popular with SPN fans. In the same way Bowie toyed with appearing bisexual back in the 70s/80s when it was edgy and cool. It's great he's admitted it, but he hasn't given us reasons, and I see very few other celebrities given this level of leeway with such a step. Lots of generous explanations being offered with no evidence, no screaming condemnation. Hmm.

Agreed.

I don’t know if I would condemn Misha for this, per se, but the responses in the thread mostly being immediate defense of him is suspicious. Especially because I already know there’s a lot of SPN and Misha fans in this comm, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was them. I understand the people trying to come up with logical reasons for how this happened, how he could have legitimately misspoke or this could be a misunderstanding. And I’m absolutely not ruling out the possibility that they’re correct. But some people seem to be running with these mere possibilities as facts about what “must” have happened, ignoring the possibility that he could have done this on purpose to play into his fans, and that taking it back later would be like trying to have his cake and eat it too. I’m not saying that’s for sure the truth, but the people straight up ignoring the possibility is what I find suspect.

I can imagine Misha either misspeaking or straight up lying about this not going over well with some people who aren’t apologists of him. But again, I don’t think I myself find this too objectionable, just very tacky if he was doing a Bowie.
