Yes so much to the friend with stories about assholes. I had an abusive friend with a million red flags, but one of them and one of the reasons I felt like I should give her a chance, was because she put on a pity-me act by talking about how all her old friends "betrayed" her by "abandoning her when she needed them." I know now that what she meant was that they couldn't do the emotional labor she wanted them to and got sick of being her verbal punching bag.

Meet an asshole once and you've met an asshole. Meet assholes all day and you're probably the problem. (Or on twitter. Or both.)

Anyone who, upon meeting them, does nothing but trash people they used to be close to definitely should be steered clear of. They're giving you a preview of things to come.
