OMG YES. I stay mad they paired her off with Mickey (like...are they bonding on the "The Doctor's Leftovers" train with Jack? Because when and how would these two have gotten together -- UNIT most likely? Shit, she even had a bit of banter with the dude Tosh liked in Torchwood).

All that said, I can see it being different/difficult for her to really link with Tom (Or was it Peter? idk. Dr. Ellis) if the one she met first was this man who had undergone the year that didn't happen vs this doctor who doesn't have a clue about what's out there who is not /quite/ the same man she met (but she has in fact changed, and he hasn't).

She was actually engaged to Tom when she reappeared in the following season of DW. The Sontaran Strategem two-parter, I want to say? So it was extra strange and abrupt when that was completely dropped in favour for what-the-fuck-ever with Mickey.

Then she showed up suddenly married to Mickey.
