Fox should have kept bothh shows. Both were good.

Holy shit. I literally just wrote this exact same opinion (see comment below). But then I nixed the dig at Dollhouse, because even though I disliked it and I genuinely am pissed to this day that it got renewed when T:SCC didn't, it doesn't seem fair to frame it as a zero-sum game.

my (admittedly limited) understanding is that it more or less *was* a zero-sum game though (i understood them to have decided it was one or the other to get chopped because they couldn't justify having two sci-fi-y shows middling in ratings)

Huh. Well I was going to argue that it wasn't Dollhouse's fault it had better ratings, but it...didn't. At all.

S1 of Dollhouse averaged 4.63M viewers per episode, whereas S2 of T:SCC averaged 5.37M viewers per episode. And it looks like 1x12 of Dollhouse dipped to 2.7M while T:SCC's Season 2 closer (and series finale) pulled in 3.6M viewers.

So yeah, okay, I actually do feel like my ire at Dollhouse for being renewed is justified. Or- well- maybe it's still misplaced, when actually the blame lies with the execs who made the call. But damn it, I can be mad at both!

I wonder if T:SCC was a lot more expensive to make or something. I mean, obviously T:SCC's ratings had dropped off steeply from S1, which would've played into their decision, but it's not like Dollhouse's ratings hadn't also dropped hard since the start of the season. And I feel like the people who were still watching T:SCC by the end of S2 were a lot more likely to stay and be committed viewers than the Dollhouse viewers.
