Omg, and the comments are overboard YET AGAIN. Sheesh.
I can google someone I like actor wise and find out all *sorts* of info on them - if they're breathing, it's out there. It's not creepy or stalkery, it's just regular interest, particularly when you literally do nothing with the info.

I love looking at neighborhoods on google maps (I use it a lot when I write to get the houses and feel of the places right), and if I knew so-and-so lived at this address, I'd probably take a little peek around, too. It shows you exactly nothing, so - where's the harm?

Now, I'm off to work.

Could not agree more. And mad respect for you for saying it with your name attached. Have a good day at work!

(Anonymous) 2022-05-02 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah no. She'd rightfully lose her shit if someone here started bragging about knowing *her* home and work address.

It’s one step away from doxxing which I thought people here hated.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-02 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
That one step is a REALLY REALLY BIG ONE though. The difference between doxxing and not doxxing is that step.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-06 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
If you say so. That’s not really based on reality, but sure.

Ta, ever so!

I've never been interested in knowing where where any strangers live.

I've always been interested in what different kind of neighborhoods look like, especially ones I've only ever read about.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-02 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I’m gonna be honest if I found out someone googled-mapped my house out of curiosity I would be INCREDIBLY weirded out. The internet has really fucked with some of ya’lls perception of strangers rights to privacy tbh.

agreed. It's good to remember celebrities in specific deal with a lot of this behavior too, so their information being out there is even less likely to be because they consented.

If I remember correctly, both the Supernatural boys had their homes in magazines, showing the interiors and etc., plus where they lived when they moved back to Austin. Sounds like this celebrity - like so many - has their home already out there in the public eye, and OP went to see what it looked like.

Really don't see the big deal, but whatever.

I use it for writing as well! Most people won't know the difference I'm sure but that ONE PERSON who says "omg I used to live there and you described it perfectly" makes it so worth it, lol.

Yes!! And how can I describe the kinds of houses - or streets - that Bucky is wandering around in Brooklyn without a good, long google? I've never been to NY, let alone Brooklyn, and there's no way I'm taking any movie's word for it, what they look like 'down on the ground' so to speak.

I've googled the insides of public buildings/businesses for the same reason.
