Tried to give the Witcher another chance for the father-daughter feelings and continued Yennefer storyline. Nope, the writing and worldbuilding is still absolute dogshit. I'm convinced people only like it for the eyecandy (and good for them if so, but that's all the positives I can see)

Whoops, misfire.

THIS. I didn't give season two a try because while season one was entertaining (and my standards low) enough while I watched it, the longer it marinades in my brain, the less I like it. Just thinking about the episode Bottled Appetites still makes me angry.

Was that the genie one where Yen is mind-control-raping an entire house of people, Jaskier is absolutely goddamn annoying and then forgotten about, and Geralt is...there? Because fuck that one.

Yes! The one where Yen mind-control-rapes an entire house of people (and it's funny because they're hot), mind-control-forces-into-servitude an older man (and it's funny because he's not hot), grabs Jaskier by the pussy (and it's funny because he sleeps around anyway and also he says 'valley of penis'), mind-control-kisses Geralt (and it's hot because she's hot) and also mind-control-forces-into-servitude Geralt (and it's funny because she makes him do things like publicly spank a townsman who was mean to her and of course nothing comes of it because it's not like we had several entire episodes about how Geralt does not use his strength to get involved with politics and intelligent species conflicts). The one titled 'Bottled Appetites', ostensibly a pun hinting that all the things Yen makes people do are urges they denied themselves. The one where Yen is a monster and Geralt has NO reason to save her from a dangerous situation that she put herself knowingly after forcing him to act against his own principles but does anyway, at a high a personal cost, because she is his OTP.
Fuck that one.

You know that she only gets into the dangerous situation BECAUSE of him right??? That’s actually the reason he feels compelled to save her because HE was the reason the genie was around in the first place. Your other gripes are valid and I won’t discount them but I always boggle how people act like she summoned the genie when she didn’t, Gerald did and he saves people however undeserving from monsters.

NARYT but yes the genie was around because of Geralt (but mostly Jaskier lbr) BUT Yennefer was also 100% tits-out ready and willing to do some dumb shit with the genie, so it's not like she was unknowingly involved or something. Granted, I don't blame her for taking advantage of a situation to try to get her goals, but it's equally mind-boggling to act like she didn't know what she was doing.

Yes to everything anon above said. And let me add:

> Gerald saves people however undeserving from monsters.
No he doesn't. Geralt protects the dragon, an intelligent being, from slaughter at the hands of humans. He also stays out of it completely when he feels it's not of his business, even if it's humans vs inhumans. Example: elves vs humans in the ep where he meets Jaskier.

But that's not even the real problem.
Saving Yennefer is obviously meant to be a big thing and Geralt does it at great personal cost (by tying himself forever to an evil, dangerous person). I need the show to give me a good, specific reason for why he does it. They could have used something as simple as, "she saved Jaskier". I think they were trying to tell us Geralt was intrigued by Yennefer, that he saw something in her worth saving or otherwise bonded with her. But if so, that was communicated really badly to viewers, evidenced by the fact that the best reason you (and I) can construct for why Geralt saved Yennefer is a fallback as generic as "he's protects people from monsters". That's what OP (I assume) and I mean when we say the show is badly written.
