It's been 11 years and the neighbor is living their life peacefully, never been stabbed.

The knife was pretty harmless, after all. Don't do that, sure, but was it harmful?

It definitely was harmful to your psyche if you still keep thinking about it and the things you could do with it after 11 years.

But this is exactly why I am on OP's side - perhaps what other people called them (creepy, etc.) for doing something without any harmless intentions hurt their psyche much more than what the actual information. Maybe they would've forgotten it on the next day.

Maybe if they didn't proudly brag about invading another person's privacy, they wouldn't have gotten negative responses and wouldn't be so traumatized by it that they're obsessing over it for 11 years. People have the right to tell you that the creepy thing you're doing is creepy. You may be socially inept enough to not understand exactly why it's creepy (god knows there's lots of people with autism and similar disorders in fandom spaces), but having around 20 different people tell you they think it's creepy, and having gone through this experience twice, should be the clue that what you're doing is generally frowned upon.

Jeffrey Dahmer lived next to some people for years without ever killing and eating them. Still creepy.

It was creepy because he did that in the end, not because he never did that, dude.
