But the female LI is already canonically attracted to men by virtue of being the canon LI, so why would pairing her with another guy be heteronormative? I'm not a fan of pairing the spares or making ace headcanons just to get characters out of the way of the main ship (sometimes people just happen to be single, it's fine really), but if someone's going to do it, I don't get why pairing her with a guy is worse than making her ace or pairing her with a girl.

Because it's not just sidelining her, it's sidelining her in a way that makes it feel like the only thing that matters about her and for her, narratively, is that she have a man. Little too much reality bullshit in it for me, personally.

If she's going to be sidelined, I'd much rather it be in a way that implicitly acknowledges that, for many women, fulfillment is not about finding a man.

Different strokes for different folks, but more ace and WLW canon female love interests for me, please.
