If and only if someone is asking for fic that specifically matches something I've written, I absolutely rec my own fic to them along with others I've read. I tell them it's a self rec, bc I believe in being up front, but imo if they want a particular thing that you happen to have provided it's not that big a deal to self rec. Especially if it's a smaller ship or sth where you might legit get overlooked bc it's not as well known
