I'm not familiar with this guy's other works, but I watched Midnight Mass and never thought "Ugh, these people talk for too long." Maybe that says something about the other things I watch.

I did get annoyed with (warning ahead for vague spoilers) the sheriff's speech about Islamophobia, but that wasn't because it was long but because it was so tone-deaf. It was framed so that clearly we the viewers were meant to sympathize with him and think the doctor was being an ignorant white Karen, but dude. My guy. People are being killed, you chose to be a sheriff, she is literally just asking you to do your job.

THIS!!!!! I agree 100% with what you're saying.
Loved the series to bits and the pacing for me was close to perfection, but that speech about islamophobia was just so out of place. I completely sympathize with the arguments but... inside that context and story it just doesn't make sense.
