Why J.K. Rowling is not allowed to have her own opinions like everybody else can, I'll never know.

This is a bad faith comment, and you know it.

No, it's not. I don't say that combatively. It's just not.

"Like everybody else can"... So you think JK Rowling is the only person who's ever been condemned for openly having bigoted views? Is that what you're saying?

Because, like it or not, she is a community leader. She has a following. There are people who listen to her.

Which means, yes, that her random opinions have a lot more consequences than Joe Blogg down the street. And a responsible person in that position is... more responsible than J K Rowling currently is.

People strongly disagree with her opinions, because they are bigoted, and they react to her as an extremely rich and influential person who is actively promoting bigoted views. It's simple.

For the same reason, idk, Elon Musk isn't allowed to "just have opinions."

When you're rich, active on social media, and have tons of fans/people in general paying attention to what you say, and you're putting massive amounts of your money and influence towards legislation (or coups, speaking of Musk) that will hurt people, people who will be negatively affected by your bullshit are allowed to be mad at you and even pissed at your fans.

This! No one would care what she talks about with her friends at brunch on the weekend--it's what she's publicly and repeatedly promoting that is discussed.

"With great power comes..." Can you finish the sentence?

Did you know that people thinking your opinions suck is also an opinion that they can have?

Like, right here, your take sucks.

Her opinions is also funding people in the UK government to make life more hell - is: the banning of conversion therapy explicitly excluding trans people and in general fucking trans people in various areas of the NHS health care.

She can have her opinion and she can damn well suffer the consequences for it. This is how life works, get over it.
