I just think it should look like who it's actually supposed to look like.

Yeah, style doesn't matter as much as being able to tell who I'm looking at... I like realistic art, but I can see how it can feel 'weird' when it's hyperrealistic and it feels like art of the actors vs something stylized but clearly telegraphing the characters? If I'm parsing the original secret correctly, at least.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm never into the actors as much as I'm into the characters, so the more it looks like the actual actors, the more the discomfort outweighs the joy.

Like... if it's hyperrealistic smutty art of something live action, so you're not seeing the usual signature costume pieces, that can definitely feel more like the actor-- though in the case of SPN, you can at least say 'ah, this tattoo means it's definitely (character), not (actor)!'
