Fictional creatures

What fictional (or mythical) creatures are your favorites? What ones do you hate? Which ones do you think are overdone? And which would you like to see more of (or any adaption of if they haven't been done yet).

I love all of these, but especially dragons. I don't care how many versions we get, dragons never get old.

I think they are fascinating. I've enjoyed them in a few fantasy books where they've turned up. I can't think of a film adaption, though. I think they'd make a great movie creature, though.

Kelpies, and lake monsters in general, I love those. There are never enough of them in fiction. I'm completely done on werewolves and vampires right now though, get back to me when they are evil bastards once again instead of mopey-wopey angst bombs.

Yes. Kelpies are fun. Any water creature, really, I'm down for. And so agreed on werewolves. I've had enough of them.

I love zombies so much but I also gravitate to less traditional ones.

I'd like mermaids better if they were weirder and less Disney-fied.

I love zombies when they're like the weather. They're dangerous and they can fuck up a society but with a little preparation you can manage just fine. I like them most as a cause for society's collapse; a reason why you need a shot gun and a manchette to gather mushrooms in the forest.

We need more giant snakes. Absolutely. Yes please.

hobbits, unicorns, elves if they're not too cutesy, pegasus, centaurs, witch familiars

vampires, zombies, werewolves
Never see and would like to:
Hippocampus (a sort of mer-pegasus), campchurches (sea unicorns, and no, I don't know why they're called that)
really really love:
Dragons of any kind

I agree about elves that they have to be done right and not too cutesy. Witch familiars are awesome. Familiars in general, really. I love the concept.

faves: Satyrs, Mizuchi, Harpies
I don't dislike any but there have been multiple depictions in media of the Cyclops I didn't particularly enjoy.

I'd like to see more adaptions featuring Spider Momma.

Satyrs are awesome. I forgot to put them on my list. Though TBH I'd love them even more if we could also get female versions.

And I haven't heard of Spider Momma, but she sounds awesome and now I want it too.

There isn't a lot you can do with them story-wise, but I love me a good jackalope. They're so cute.

For me, I want the each-uisge, the kelpie, the pooka. Love, love, love.
Also love me some angels and demons that are creepy, otherworldly, really not human in their reactions and desires (not just 'evil' or 'good').
I like werewolves, but not when they're gross-looking like American Werewolf in London. I like a lot of the Scottish/Irish/English/Celtic mythical things, like banshees and bogarts and the Sidhe.

I really do like zombies, still.

Not terribly interested in dragons, they always look weird to me. They're *interesting*, but just....eh.

More unicorns! But not the "runs away from non-virgin" European type. More of the "guts evil doers like a fish" Japanese type.

Werewolves. Bigfoots and other big hairy forest men type creatures. Giants, especially wise ones. Centaurs, especially wise ones.

I love selkies, kirin, vampires, dragons, werecreatures of any kind, centaurs, pegasi, unicorns, ghosts, mermaids, the fairy court...basically if it's a mythical/supernatural creature or cryptid, I love it and would like to see more of it.

With one exception. I really, really don't like zombies, unless they're along the lines of Reg Shoe, who is kind of adorable. Your typical rabid, mindless "eats people alive and screaming" zombie freaks me out like nothing else, though. Fido is the only exception to this rule, because that movie was actually really sweet and heartwarming. Also, it wasn't nearly as gory as the other zombie movies I've seen, which makes a huge difference (I can handle seeing blood, bones and tissue damage, but once the inner wobbly bits come into play I nope the fuck out, because I am a huge wuss).

I'm a vampire hoe. I've come to terms with it. I'm not even a ~cool~ vampire hoe who likes 'em evil and monstrous. I'm all about the sexy, romantic vampires.

I will say, though, that my ideal would involve a bit more lowkey horror elements thrown in with the sexy romance. Like, give me a vampire who is a good person, but who gets honestly terrifying when they need to feed. Like, black eyes, needle sharp teeth, looks like a motherfucking demon from your nightmares and probably can't entirely control themselves when they get hungry enough...but is actually a really good person who is privately terrified of themselves and exists on starvation rations. And then there's That One Person who trusts them anyway, and can look them in their black, demon eyes even when they're so starving that the monster part has taken over, and offer their neck up like it's a juice box (and who secretly finds being fed off of hot as fuck but is trying not to be weird about it).

Also, if feeding could be a little messier sometimes, that'd be great. Not like neck-torn-open mess, but some blood could escape. It could get on the vamp's face while they're in the heat of the moment. That'd be cool.

Just, like, give me a little mild body horror with my vampirism...but in a sexy way.

I don't like zombies, and I wouldn't mind a break from tolkien elves and sapient dragons.

I'd love to see more fairies of various kinds, cryptids of the jackalope and jersey devil type, and talking trees.
