There's two flavors to the whole "magical cure" thing, for me, as someone with both chronic illness and ADHD

Like, I would cure a lot of my chronic illness stuff in a heartbeat. I'm in pain. It fucking sucks.

But I wouldn't ask for my ADHD to be removed. It's been with me my whole life. It's part of who I am. It's shaped my path in life. I'd want something more magical than science gives me to help me function day to day. Like a better potion. Or a crown I can put on and take off.

A big part can be how it's addressed narratively. Like, if you have a "go to another world" situation, does the person still think about their life, how different it is now that they have these fixes? Is there something still broken with the system there that they use their new privilege to point out/address/help?

It's not all black and white, but there are definitely worse examples. And going from disabled to suddenly not often isn't treated as the big transition it would be. And, of course, there's the trope when written by non disabled people. I think it's a good discussion to have and not something to just pass by.

“I'd want something more magical than science gives me to help me function day to day.”

I’m getting all this from TV Tropes, but Black in the Pokémon manga has a Pokémon that can “eat” his thoughts when he gets too wrapped up in his head and forgets what he’s supposed to be doing.

It's described as eating "dreams," but apparently Black's obsessive thoughts qualify as dreams? I don't know what the original Japanese word was.
