(Anonymous) 2022-05-14 08:48 am (UTC)(link)Likewise, the Vision Hunt Decree, as awful as it was, was because the Raiden Shogun viewed the Visions as a destabilizing force that would destroy that eternity and cause another Khaenri'ah incident eventually. You know, the thing that got an ENTIRE FUCKING COUNTRY wiped off the map. Sara was willing to agree with that up until she realized that this spiel was actually a Fatui plot that was presented as reasonable to a still-grieving woman, and thus was likely based upon lies. At which point she put her own life on the line for peace and to end the Decree. A fanatic would have not done that at the threat of her own life, nor would she have accepted peace with the people under a certain high priestess (which was nearly sabotaged, and she was willing to work WITH these people to obtain peace still).
Like, it strikes me on some level that the one of the three so far everyone sees as evil is Baal instead of, you know, Morax who willingly worked with the Fatui, allowed his old rival to awaken and then allowed the city he supposedly cherished to be wiped out as a test of them, knowing thousands AT LEAST would die in the waves. (Oh but he SAID he would shield them--bitch I don't believe you and you're my favorite character.) He deceives and lies and tweaks things because HE wants to retire. The only thing I fully believe Zhongli on is that he didn't kill the Goddess of Salt and that he used to be much worse.
Venti, meanwhile, is such a free spirit that he's completely hands-off except like. Once in our entire story. Twice in a side story. Instead, he spends his entire time drunk or freeloading as a reaction to his own gried over things. But no, he and Morax get a free fucking pass, I guess, for their flaws because they don't hurt people I guess. (They do, Venti's stolen things a few times, wrecked his own sacred relic that the church uses, and is generally irresponsible to a fault. Morax, again, let a lot of people nearly die so he could fucking RETIRE. But Baal is evil instead of a fully fledged character who's getting better. Gee, can you tell which one has tits?)

(Anonymous) 2022-05-14 10:23 am (UTC)(link)I mean, I get where you're coming from but the thing is: Yes, she thought what she was doing was the right thing based on her trauma. But it still led to a war with countless deaths and people basically getting turned into aimless zombies after they got their visions taken and NONE of them actually recovered after the Vision Hunt Decree was lifted. Not to mention that having a Vision was apparently perfectly okay when you worked for the Shogun so it's not even consistent. Yet we're supposed to just go "Aw but look she is ... kinda but not really sowwy and she likes sweets so all is good and forgotten now".
And yeah, it's because she has tits because Mihoyo is fucking shit at writing female characters. But it's because she's written badly that people don't like her, not because misogyny. And please stop pretending nobody likes her or sympathizes with her/her motives. That's simply not true. Like, at all.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-14 11:51 am (UTC)(link)But... but a fanatic would? Like that's what fanatics do. Sara is not a coward.
By the way it's a bit strange to send military to make piece talks. Sara just completed her truce mission as she'd any other because it was given to her by Raiden. She is not a homicidal maniac incapable of talking.
Moving to your other points, we still don't know why Venti and Zhongli dave up their gnoses. Fatui might be not bad. I mean it's a game where we kill and rob sentient tribes, treasure hoarders who fight us with spades and cute big eyed slimes and squirrels. So I woudn't be too hasty to judge Fatui. I'm partial to a CelestiaVSFatui theory.
Why do you think that Morax wouldn't have helped with Osial?
Actually all your points are a bit extreme, like you're not willing to agree with anything in the secret and would argue that the sky is blue, thought you make some interesting points.
I don't feel the same negativity towards Ei as I do to Sara. I'm not even sure I got her story fully as I doubt that Yae Miko's interpretation that we got is correct. By contrasting the other 2 archons I meant that Zhongli and Venti wish for their people to be free from their rule and also the degree of all 3 archons' involement in the goverment affairs, not good VS evil.
The grieving woman (god?) angle is a logical way for Hoyoverse to proceed with Ei's story. A tragic backstory villain redemption. It's interesting to read fan theories and discussion about her storyline that happend while it was still ongoing.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-14 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)Also for, "The Fatui might not be bad!" they sure are willing to murder, lie and destroy entire countries for their ends, but somehow Raiden isn't worthy of the same grace. Because their motives might be pure when hers were well-intentioned herself and trying to give her people the very thing she promised: eternity.
Also my point with Sara NOT being a fanatic is she wouldn't have ever gone to inform the shogun of the plot. She 100% believed in it being for the greater good.
Morax only wants them to be free of his rule because he's tired of ruling. That's why I don't think he'd have actually helped: his ultimate reasons for faking his death and becoming Zhongli were entirely selfish. And fandom doesn't really... Get that? Like, also the fact that he's lied to us a bunch, so who even knows. He doesn't even plan on helping us or telling us his version of what happened at Khaenri'ah, which should be important enough TO tell us but no. No, he won't for Reasons he won't even elaborate on. And I LIKE the mysterious bastard, but I also recognize he's shady as all fuck.
Also they sent military because, I'm not sure if you haven't noticed, but Inazuma doesn't have anything that ISN'T military really right now. Even their mercantile branch is militarized.

If you haven't done the Chasm yet, it's interesting some of the Fatui you meet there compared to the ones you see elsewhere in the world. You're not wrong that how they go about achieving their goals is not really defensible but I am interested in finding out more about what the Tsaritsa's true end goal is.
Zhongli isn't just tired of ruling, IMHO, but he also is concerned about the effects of erosion on him and what it might mean for his people in the future (see: his second story quest and what happened with Azhdaha). Kind of like with the Fatui, I'm not sure his methods are very defensible but at least it's understandable why he might want to feel assured the people are capable of defending themselves without their Archon there anymore. I don't think he's actually lied to us though (except inasmuch as he let us believe the Geo Archon was dead). Mostly he's just told us he can't tell us stuff.
Hahah, you're right that basically everything is military in Inazuma. Maybe not the Yashiro commission but even there Ayato's basically leading a shadow espionage/assassination force in the Shuumatsuban so...yeah.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-14 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)I dont necessarily think he's our friend either because there's too much of a distance between him and others, which is implied to be due to his age. He might have shed his godly form and taken up a human alias but he's still decidedly inhuman, mainly because he basically seems to not really know how to act human. And I think that's the main reason behind most of his sketchy actions.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-14 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)I'm mostly ok about lying to Traveler and don't hold it against Kaeya, Zhongli, Childe and... I'm drawing a blank here.
I think Inazuma sent Sara just because it's a character we know. Ayato would be fine too, I think. Logically it should have been some diplomat or strategist.
Re Sara is fanatic, I think we talk about different kinds here. I think she's a fanatic to her superiors, Ei most of all. Sara was never happy with the Hunt Decree. Which again shows that she's ready to go against her convitions due to her orders. That's what I find scary. She still think that Ei is perfect, that what's happening is not her fault, that Ei is lied to. So she reveals Fatui's scheme to the puppet that she believes is her idol. She never questioned her loyalty to Ei. Honestly, how can she even like the puppet? Sara never met the real Ei. Weird.
I haven't done Ei's hangout yet but surprisingly I don't hate her. With all the evil Raiden talk I thought I would but instead I hated Kokomi's storyline and hangout.
Yeah, Venti said that he's weak because a god that doesn't rule is weak... But still, it's just Signora. I still can't believe that she beat Venti and Traveler so esily that time.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-14 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)IDK, I think Sara is also a very Japanese character and kind of a take-down of that idea of burying your own convictions for what you deem the Greater Good. Sara's entire thing was thinking that the reasons for the Vision Hunt Decree were sound (because yeah, on paper, they kinda were--that Visions created division and allowed people to brutally enforce their will on those who do NOT have Visions is an actual thing). She just didn't like how it changed people which uh. Reminder we still don't know a whole lot ABOUT Visions--even the people in-universe don't know much about them and kinda assume that the Archons CHOOSE to hand them out (which we now know isn't true). Sara was also like. Raised in this culture AND she's adopted to boot, in a society that greatly values its blood ties. So she's already starting out behind and having to prove herself constantly because a LOT of people are going to view her not being blood related to the Kujou family as a negative thing. Basically: Sara is a more complex character with a lot of misgivings she swallows because she believes what she's doing, no matter how it makes her fell, is correct. Like, you know, a LOT of real people do. I don't think she feels Ei is perfect--but she does think Ei knows better what she's doing than Sara herself does, because Ei is ancient and has seen societies rise AND fall.
And yeah, Zhongli does mention if you ask him after the Osial fight that he would have stepped in if he "deemed it necessary." But I kinda don't believe him because it really doesn't feel like it.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-15 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)You should really try Zhongli's Chinise VA, it sounds gentler then the English one.
