I understand I can only allow so much "dark, serious" stuff in the things I enjoy. You're completely valid to want to only watch things that make you feel good and happy.

Recently, a friend was venting about how they couldn't find quality fics and I had to be honest and tell them that I don't read fics for quality purposes. I like finding fics that just throw me into a fun or cute world because I'm tired of trying to figure out what I'm doing with my life. I don't care if the characters in the fic are OOC or that the grammar could be a little better, JUST LET ME READ ABOUT THIS PAIR MAKING OUT IN THE JANITOR'S CLOSET.

That’s what I want out of my fics too. I don’t need a lot of seriousness and/or for the fics to be canon compliant. I just wanna see my OTP playing house and being all cute with each other.

This so much! That is completely the thing I look for in fics 100% of the time. And sometimes the fics that strike my fancy are also quality fics, and it’s a nice bonus. But that’s not always the case, and I’m fine with that.

I respect and understand the people who only look for quality, because I usually prefer quality in other types of things I enjoy outside of fic(although my version of quality isn’t usually angsty or tragic there either). But I look for things that make me happy first and foremost in fic, and that doesn’t always equal a sprawling epic or meticulously detailed slowburn.
