But it was the one specifically called out. Soy sauces do have distinctive flavors, so if you want the depth of umami without the dish being unbalanced with soy sauce flavor, then adding MSG is the way to go.

I wrote "for example" -a lot of but sauces that get used like oyster sauce or fish sauce also gave it. But anyway, I don't have any issue with MSG, just saying you dont have to add it in literal powder form if other ingredients already include it because too much can actually ruin a dish, taste-wise.
