Yep. I had a number of people suggest this to me because they knew I like Sherlock Holmes. I usually gave a “oh I’ll have to check it out” sort of response, but I had to start telling family flat out that I was not interested. Sherlock Holmes as a crime procedural in modern day USA? Hard pass.

Yes, the characters are a product of their time and place and I don't see how it's possible to change both without losing the essence of the thing. That was one of the problems of BBC Sherlock for me, once the novelty had worn off.

/currently re-watching Granada Holmes and loving every second of it

BBC Sherlock was about the worst adaptation of any character I've ever seen.
