I didn't like Brotherhood. I got through a couple of eps and just noped on out - the best way I can put it is that it was like a cover version of a song where the singer puts the stresses on weird words so they can do showoffy things with their voice and it just sounds wrong and you miss every beat.

The pacing was what killed Brotherhood for me, honestly. It was just SO BAD.

Okay weirdly, this puts into words exactly what bothered me about Brotherhood. I loved FMA and I tried watching Brotherhood like three times and kept noping out after like 2 or 3 episodes every time.

...That is a really good way to describe it from what I saw (because I too just went "meh" and moved on).

I've heard some people say it's more like the manga than the earlier version, but *shrug* I saw the early anime version before anything else. I guess it's like people who were disappointed by Sailor Moon Crystal after being familiar with the 90s series...?

I was disappointed by Crystal because I felt that the 90s series did such a good job of showing the relationships between the girls and painting them all as individual people with their own distinct hopes and dreams and feelings, and then Crystal just felt like it sort of... glossed over most of that. It was disappointing to someone who had enjoyed the first series BECAUSE of its portrayal of female friendship.
