And I am intrigued. How exactly does the rp work? It seems to span all the Suikoden games - so do they keep separate or crossover sometimes or what?

OMG LOL PERCIVAL - I play him as well. XD

Budehuc is inexplicably drawing "stars" from other wars across history to it. Since the RP has been going for 6 years, the timeline is 6 years after the end of Suikoden III. So, if you play a character from III you would just show up normally, aged by 6 years, but from any other game, you can choose the magical method of being transported to Budehuc. Most people blame Viki and her errant rune. :)

It's a very laid-back sort of game, primarily a slice-of-life scenario where characters can interact, but there are also occasional rune-related or battle-related plots to keep things interesting. And the mods decreed that after a spoiler-block of 4 months, Tierkreis characters will be allowed as well.

Yeah, all the Suikoden icons I have are of Caesar and Percival.

Sounds intriguing. I am intrigued. Intrigued is a word that you could associate with me now. But how would you integrate a character from III easily? It seems as though they'd have to catch up on a lot of the backstory and things that have been played before. For the less important Stars it probably wouldn't matter, but for some of the Plot!Characters, you would expect they'd hang around with each other during that time, so what happened between those six years?

Ooo, Tierkreis. I was actually just wondering about that. I'm actually re-playing III now because playing Tierkreis reminded me of it.

It depends on who you'd want to play. Any character who has been played in the past is essentially retconned if a new person picks them up - so, say for example, you wanted Jacques. Well, we've had Jacques before, but a new Jacques would be a new slate. The only characters he would HAVE to acknowledge would be the rest of the 12th unit - of which, we only have Geddoe, Queen, and Aila right now. Just an example.

Also, if it's someone who already has friends or associates in the game, you can always poke the player and ask if it's okay if you reference things that they might have done three or four years ago. Our players are always so excited that someone is coming in, I can almost guarantee they'd be happy to help work in any potential backstory to help make your entrance smooth.

Heh. I was actually just thinking it would be neat to play Jacques.

But I think I might look through the characters not on the Taken list and see which one suits me. I'm not sure if Jacques would be an easy character to play for a beginner since he's kinda unsociable and doesn't talk a lot.

Thank for answering all my questions. I just have one more - if I do find a character and do decide to join, I'd have to submit an application, yes? Is there anything else I should do?

It's a good thing Suikoden has tons of characters, because there's lots not on the Taken list that might be fun to play. ;)

Yes, to join you have to submit an application for the character, but in the meantime, probably watch the rpg community, so you can get a feel for how people tend to interact. Apparently there are a lot of lurkers out there who watch the game without playing, it's not unusual. And if you want to IM me or anything, please do. :D My aim should be in my profile.
