Jude Law's Bond would have been an interesting experiment, but I don't think it would have worked any more than Michael Caine being Bond would have. Of course, I'm not even sure Daniel Craig works as Bond to be honest. Even when Sean Connery was doing thug-Bond there was still a bit of naughty schoolboy charm in the character that Craig's was missing. And the less said about the end of No Time To Die the better, but that isn't Craig's fault and is another secret entirely.

I don't think that Law would have been a *bad* Bond. Probably about as good as Pierce Brosnan (who wasn't really bad in the role, he was just let down by his scripts and directors). Better than Roger Moore, at least.

I do think that having a thuggish streak is essential to being a great Bond. It shouldn't be the only thing going on with the character, and I think Craig leans into it too much at times. But at the end of the day one of the things about Bond is that he is a brutal killer who is willing to use extreme, ugly physical force to achieve his ends. He's not just a charmer who can slip out of trouble at will. He is an assassin. And that's the reason that Craig ultimately does work in the role for me. And I think that's actually the element that I'm not sure if Law could totally pull off.

Definitely not wrong there.

You said this so much better than I could, but yes absolutely all of this is why Craig is my favourite.

I love that about Craig's Bond. He's all rough edges and raw power in this suit and tbh I think it works best for me of all the Bonds.

Craig is my favourite Bond. With that said, Casino Royale was his finest hour in the role and subsequent films have been uneven, but Craig hinself is exactly how I imagined Bobd when i read the books.

For me it's Dalton. But Craig is close.
