It could be something like, nonny likes the comics version of a pairing where the MCU version is much more popular.

Op here: closer to liking the comic version but mostly reading MCU fic that stumbles backwards into recreating comics dynamics. Like a Steve/Tony shipper who enjoys fic where they really respect each other and are super great friends and supported each other through the long dark teatimes of their souls and also Tony carries Steve around while flying.

It's ooc as fuck for what canon it's actually based off of but it scratches an itch down to the *bone*.

Comics and animated series MCU are really different from the movies. I shipped comic Steve and Tony but The Avengers took away the enjoyment out of it. The comic secret identity thing with bodyguard Tony is great.

Pretty much this exactly.

Although part of me still ships MCU Steve/Tony, because my brain hates me and wants me to be miserable. I’m not having fun with it at all, and haven’t been for a while, but it won’t let the feelings go away.
