Magically huge age-gap pairings or platonic partners. The only ones I know are Logan and Rouge (which I sometimes ship) and Skulduggery and Valkyrie (which I don’t ship). I love mysteriously-old-guy-who-doesn’t-look-old is friends with a young woman, whether it’s with a power imbalance or not.

Awww shit I'm here for that. Do you have a preference? Like does self insert bother you? OCs?

No other preferences and ocs, etc are cool. I just want that dynamic, can’t get enough!

I'm thinking
John Winchester/OC (or frankly any number of the fee female characters in Supernatural).
If you want actually like a uncle/niece/mentor or father figure girl never had, I'd opt for Bobby or Rufus.

If you're into anime:
I'd recommend All Might (Yagi Toshinori) as the male platonic lead because he's just a really good guy. I'd also suggest Eraserhead (Aizawa), and if you want a more antagonistic relationship (most times) Endeavor. If you want full baddie, I recommend All For One.

Man, I'm sure I have a lot more; I'd post actual fics, but most of them tend to turn smutty though :/ lol. It's a dynamic I'm really into as well. Classic recommendation for me Hermione as a fandom bicycle all grown up paired with Sirius or Remus, sometimes Lucius, and lately Abraxas if it's a time turner type of fic. I'd say Tom Riddle, but only if they meet when they're young (unless you're into nostril-less Voldie, in which case you can find that too).

I’ve never seen any anime but fic could be my gateway drug ;) I have seen some SPN, enough to dive into John’s tag and just roll with it. I’ve run out of fic and published books so you’ve already opened a whole new world for me. Thank you so much!

And if you're looking for an actual dad/he's bad for you but he looks so good -- also in the anime category, I'd recommend Toji Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen (type of man to throw you away once he's done with you, but I'm totally down for he's got a soft spot for someone he's kind of taken on as a mentee) and villain-wise I'd recommend Sukuna Ryomen (he's technically a demon so around for a long ass time --just avoid any fic where he's still occupying the body his vessel, a high school kid; there are quite a few AUs where Sukuna is a big bad boss man and his host is just one of the underling interns the OC is in charge of).

The "younger" set of Gojo, Getou, and Nanami (late 20s) is probably too young for what you're looking for, but...they still look good lol.

None of these are platonic, but... Uprooted and Spinning Silver, both by Naomi Novik. Beauty and Sunshine, both by Robin McKinley.

As for fic, Sarah/Jareth from Labyrinth and Belle/Rumpelstiltskin from Once Upon a Time are magic age gap pairings with tons of fic.

Okay, Jareth's age isn't given in canon, but fic writers mostly write him as ancient and functionally immortal. Belle/Rumple is something like 20s/300s? Ish? Their exact ages aren't given in canon either.

I’ve never seen OUAT but that won’t stop me from enjoying the fic and I know it was such a huge fandom that it’s still around, which is usually a good sign of great characters and world building that are fun to play with. Thank you so much!

AYRT--You probably don't need to watch even all of season 1 of OUAT to follow most Belle/Rumple (the ship name is Rumbelle) fic, especially earlier stuff.

But ep. 1.12, Skin Deep, the first episode Belle shows up in, is definitely worth a watch. And if you want more Rumplestiltskin backstory, Desperate Souls, ep. 1.8, is worth a watch too. The show had some clunky bits even in season 1 and I gave up by season 3, and just stuck around the fandom.

If you watch nothing else, look on youtube for "Skin Deep deleted scene," there's 12 seconds of "dammit why did they cut this" that encapsulates why the pairing still generates fic years after the show was cancelled.

Also there's a lot of fic where Belle is still in her 20s but Rumple is only 40-50 something; some of it is even canon because OUAT has almost a canon AU thing going on.

Probably the most well known Rumbelle fic that focuses on the magical age gap aspects of the pairing is A Bed of Thorns by Nym. She never finished it, but it's super long and works as a character study with bonus smut, if you're into that sort of thing.

If you want something shorter, Tamed, Wild, Caged, and Feral Creatures by Merripestin is a great character study, also with smut. (Okay, I know what I like, and what I like is often smutty character study fics.)

As for Labyrinth fic, I haven't gone looking since before Ao3 existed, so I'm not sure if the fics I read are still up anywhere or what the good stuff is, but I'm sure you'll find some.

I’ve already started the Rumbelle fic without having seen the show haha I did look them up for faces and will probably go ahead and get Disney+ again as they have quite a bit now that I’m interested to check out and my husband may want to watch the Obi-Wan show.

I'm not sure Sleepy Hollow (2013 TV Series) counts as Icabod Crane is technically much older than Abbie Mills, but he hasn't actually experienced that time as he was asleep for over two centuries.

I haven’t read any Interview canon since before the movie came out, I may need to pick that up again. Alas, for Buffy it seems Giles is my bicycle and I ship him with every woman on the show except Dawn and Tara. The vamp pairings just don’t do it for me, I don’t know why.
